Picture Post

The readers have spoken and want pictures. So I have posted some pics at my new blog. Note this one is the public one, hence the same name. You are welcome to link there.

These pics are courtesy of last week's run. Yes it took me a week to upload because I am busy and important like that. I have a theory about why people from New Orleans are fat. It's because the weather sucks and no one wants to go outside. Living here I definitely want to be outside, and I do have a better lifestyle vis-a-vis exercise because I truly enjoy where I live.

I am too much of a spaz to upload to blogger, which is why I am giving it a shot on wordpress. Apparently I may be too much of a spaz to upload there too. What gives? My pics are small.

I will start the process of sending out emails and updating links over the next couple of weeks, but I have a lot going on so it may be slow. Thank you to everyone who has read this blog and I hope most of you will be along for the ride at wordpress. This blog will stay active (as in I won't delete it) but I will stop checking the comments as frequently. Can't wait to see you on the other side!

Update

1. The people have spoken. I promise I will post some pics from my hecka long 12k run on Sunday. I knew I wasn't going to be in top form and do a "perf" so I said I might as well stop and go anyway and take pictures of what it means NOT to miss New Orleans. All pictures are within walking distance of each other.

2. I am still choosing options for private blog stuff. Thank you to everyone who posted. Right now I am thinking that I just need to go private. If there was a way to close comments and trackbacks to registered users (I would make a dummy account if you came to me with a compellings reason not to register) Unfortunately I am so busy that as I mentioned before, I don't have time to think further for about two weeks. A lot of you have asked for a reason. I am not going to give one here. This blog will stay up in some format, as I know there are a lot of links to here and I won't let my voice be silenced that way.

The picture post will probably be one of my last posts in this format.

Reason 5,237 I can't stand Hillary Clinton

There were some sound bytes on CNN today about how Hillary is trolling for the Latino vote. One of the sound bytes is her talking with some newscaster about how she feels about that demographic. What does Hillary say? In all seriousness, she whips out a, "You know, I just love Mexican food." WTH? I mean seriously, WTH kind of front running candidate is that? And then they put it on TV?
Say what you want about Segolene Royal, I can't see her going, "I think people in the banlieues should vote for me because yum yum, I likes me a big couscous with merguez!" Gaah. But you so know Sarkozy would say something like that. He would be all like, "Yum yum, let's have some tchoukchouka, Rachida, you cookin'?" Gaah again.

Who do y'all think I would vote for? If I could, of course. We won't talk about that, I am bitter. I defy you to find a democrat in the fine state of Mississippi who was able to file an absentee ballot from outside the country. Anyway bygones.

It's John Edwards. Yeah I kinda sorta like Obama, but Hillary is a hellz to the no, so between redneck and chameleon, I pick redneck. I am one, after all.

New Plan

Those of you who knew me in high school know that I always had a camera on me. And this was before digital. All my cash went to developing random rolls of film of people's feet and stuff. I decided to be that girl again with my new digital camera.

This all started when I realised that I have been in Geneva almost three years and things and places that used to be my routine, daily activities are now slowly fading into memory. I want pictures.

So this morning, I took a picture of a rainbow as I got off the train. And then I walked the long way to work.

What would you do?

Still musing on the private, will probably make a decision on or around the first week of February.

In the meantime, I have a serious question for y'all. Don't laugh.

For reasons I cannot fathom, some women think my boss is a hot piece. I truly don't get it. That is not my problem. I am perplexed, but that isn't what bothers me.

My problem is that these women, mainly secretaries, are calling him for stuff and sending him mail for stuff when they should be contacting me. He then winds up shoving these requests back to me (where they should have gone in the first place) and when I go to the women with feedback they are all like, "but I need to speak to [Hot Piece]." And then I get attitude from these women when he doesn't hand deliver some signed document to their desks and ask them out for dinner. Then I get attitude from him because he has to put up with their crap.

Today's most recent episode was so lame and such a weak attempt that I spent about five minutes laughing about it. I hate to talk about it then not blog it but if I did I would TMI about my job. Anyway.

1. Do you think he realises that these are in fact lame attempts to pick up on him? He has to. This is like the third time I have had to play gatekeeper.

2. How do I talk to him about it? Because I am going to talk to him about it. Three times is too much. This is a problem for me because I don't have time for it and I don't like getting attitude from people at my staff level when I am just doing my job. I am thinking of asking him to let me respond to today's mail so that this particular golddigger knows that I open his mail (which is my job).

3. What happens when I get attitude from golddiggers? If they ask why [Hot Piece] doesn't call them personally for coffee and a chat, I usually say, "he's a very busy man and I am his PA." IF they press me for his personal life, I was planning on saying, "I know nothing about his personal life, I don't mix business and personal so wouldn't be able to tell you anything," which is the truth. But I want something more firm. Any ideas?

Feedback requested

I am busier than busy right now, but I wanted to put this up there and get feedback.
I have been thinking of making this blog private. There are many reasons.

One blog I read (which I won't link to because duh, it's private) made the switch and it appears to have gone well (sample size of me= I still read it). I was worried in the past that no one would read but the experience of the private blog I still read has proved me otherwise, and I think my readership is stable despite the year and some change my blog went into a steep decline as all my intellectual resources were given to a thankless job.

I am also toying with the idea of making this private this my "me" blog, and having a public blog where I talk more about Islam, writing and current events. Finally, I do not exclude going private briefly and coming back. Or switching to wordpress and doing password protected posts. I am still in the thinking stage, which is why I am asking for feedback.

What I do know is that if I did go private, I would do the footwork of making sure those who: A- currently link to me(I can tell from my stat counter)if their email addy is available on site; and B- other bloggers who have sent me private emails would automatically be included.

Please let me know what you think, and please leave me a comment or an email. This would happen in the next few weeks.
