Still musing on the private, will probably make a decision on or around the first week of February.
In the meantime, I have a serious question for y'all. Don't laugh.
For reasons I cannot fathom, some women think my boss is a hot piece. I truly don't get it. That is not my problem. I am perplexed, but that isn't what bothers me.
My problem is that these women, mainly secretaries, are calling him for stuff and sending him mail for stuff when they should be contacting me. He then winds up shoving these requests back to me (where they should have gone in the first place) and when I go to the women with feedback they are all like, "but I need to speak to [Hot Piece]." And then I get attitude from these women when he doesn't hand deliver some signed document to their desks and ask them out for dinner. Then I get attitude from him because he has to put up with their crap.
Today's most recent episode was so lame and such a weak attempt that I spent about five minutes laughing about it. I hate to talk about it then not blog it but if I did I would TMI about my job. Anyway.
1. Do you think he realises that these are in fact lame attempts to pick up on him? He has to. This is like the third time I have had to play gatekeeper.
2. How do I talk to him about it? Because I am going to talk to him about it. Three times is too much. This is a problem for me because I don't have time for it and I don't like getting attitude from people at my staff level when I am just doing my job. I am thinking of asking him to let me respond to today's mail so that this particular golddigger knows that I open his mail (which is my job).
3. What happens when I get attitude from golddiggers? If they ask why [Hot Piece] doesn't call them personally for coffee and a chat, I usually say, "he's a very busy man and I am his PA." IF they press me for his personal life, I was planning on saying, "I know nothing about his personal life, I don't mix business and personal so wouldn't be able to tell you anything," which is the truth. But I want something more firm. Any ideas?
